The Touch That Teaches

What is TTEAM?

The Tellington Touch Equine Awareness Method or TTEAM is a teaching method for horses that incorporates body work or ttouches, ground exercises and riding exercises.  These help improve co-ordination, balance and athletic ability.  TTEAM helps increase levels of self-confidence and self-control, it teaches the horse to act, rather than simply react.

TTEAM consists of...

TTOUCHES

TTouches on the horse's body find areas that indicate tension, fear of contact or discomfort.  Specific movements and TTouches are used to improve circulation, release tension, calm and promote a greater sense of well being.

GROUND EXERCISES

The TTEAM leading exercises enable the horse to override old patterns of movement and behaviour, through a series of non habitual movements, without the use of fear or force.  The groundwork improves co-ordination, confidence, focus, self-control, balance and co-operation.

RIDING EXERCISES

TTEAM riding techniques combine Linda Tellington Jones's 30 years of classical riding experience with her unique training method to increase the comfort, performance and confidence of both horse and rider.

In what ways can TTEAM help my horse?

TTEAM is a valuable tool that can help alter tension patterns and their associated behaviours in the horse.  TTEAM can offer positive solutions to problems, such as....

  • reluctance to be caught
  • head or ear shyness
  • starting a young horse
  • rearing, bucking or kicking out
  • tripping or stumbling
  • shoeing issues
  • girthiness
  • spooking
  • schooling difficulties
  • poor performance
  • reactivity to saddling or rugging up
  • travelling or loading issues
  • rushing through gateways
  • health issues
  • lack of concentration
  • high head carriage
  • fear of loud noises or movement behind

TTEAM is not a replacement for appropriate veterinary attention and should never be used as such.  If you suspect that the horse or pony in your care has a physical problem please consult your vet.  TTEAM is very much complementary to veterinary care for the health and benefit of your animals.
